With luminaries such as Bering, Helissio and Calandagan on the roll of honour, the Mauricio Delcher Sanchez-conditioned stakes debutant Pearled Majesty (Persian King) joined exalted company with a pillar-to-post triumph in Sunday's 10 1/2-furlong G3 Prix Noailles at ParisLongchamp.
Quickly away from the outside stall for an early advantage, the 31-5 chance was committed by Christophe Soumillon once into the straight and maintained a relentless tempo under continued rousting to easily hold the closing pack–headed by Space Waltz (American Pharoah)–by 1 1/4 lengths.
Pearled Majesty took three goes to shed maiden status, doing so at Chantilly last November with Soumillon in the plate for the first time, and doubled up for the Belgian when notching an impressive three-length tally on seasonal return at Saint-Cloud last month.
Pedigree Notes
Pearled Majesty, a G1 Prix du Jockey Club entry who becomes the third pattern-race winner for his sire, is the second foal and black-type performer thrown by an unraced half-sister to G3 Prix Minerve and G3 Princess Royal Stakes winner Eternal Pearl (Frankel). His stakes-winning second dam Pearly Steph (Oasis Dream) is a half to G1 Matron Stakes heroine Pearls Galore (Invincible Spirit) and G3 Grosser Preis der Mehl-Mulhens-Stiftung victrix Lucky Lycra (Olympic Glory). The winner is a half-sister to Listed Prix de Thiberville runner-up Three Pearls (Intello) and the unraced 2-year-old filly Pearly Warrior (Saxon Warrior).
