Pegasus World Cup Connections Pledge to Support New Vocations

Two owners of starters in Saturday's $12-million GI Pegasus World Cup have pledged to support New Vocations. Jan Vandebos-Naify, a partner in the syndicate that owns California Chrome (Lucky Pulpit), will donate $10,000 if the newly crowned Horse of the Year wins. Starlight Racing has also pledged to donate a percentage of Neolithic (Harlan's Holiday)'s earnings.

“I am so honored to be part of the California Chrome Syndicate,” said Vandebos-Naify. “As Horse of the Year once again, he has shown his diversity on the track, as well as his ability to bring people together to help other horses in need. I am so pleased to be able to take a portion of my earnings to honor OTTBs. New Vocations is the leader in the aftercare community and one that I am so proud to be affiliated with.”

“The costs associated with rehabbing, retraining and rehoming retired racehorses continue to rise each year so the pledged funds are greatly needed and appreciated,” said Program Director Anna Ford. “Jan Vandebos-Naify and Starlight Racing have been wonderful, ongoing supporters of our efforts, and we are thrilled to have their kind and generous pledges during the exciting Pegasus World Cup.”
