Pearl Secret to Stand at Bucklands

Pearl Secret | Bucklands Farm and Stud

Qatar Racing's G2 Betfred.com Temple S. hero Pearl Secret (GB) (Compton Place {GB}–Our Little Secret {Ire}, by Rossini) will take up stud duties at Bucklands Farm and Stud in Gloucestershire, England, it was announced Thursday. Bred by Whitsbury Manor Stud and Pigeon House Stud, the 7-year-old, who is from the extended family of MG1SW Dutch Art (GB) (Medicean {GB}), will command £4,000. A winner of two more stakes during a 26-start career that also saw him place in the 2013 G1 King's Stand S., the David Barron trainee accrued $382,557 in earnings over six seasons of racing.

“He was the quickest and toughest horse that I have ever trained, with a bit more luck he would have won the Group 1 he so richly deserved,” said Barron. “I look forward to training his offspring.”

Pearl Secret was purchased by Daniel Creighton and Josh Schwartz of Salcey Forest Stud, with the duo commenting, “He has been purchased for owner/breeder John Dance and Matt Eves, who was the majority owner of the Classic-winning filly Jet Setting (Ire) (Fast Company {Ire}).”

Added Roisin Close of Bucklands Farm and Stud, “I am delighted to stand Pearl Secret at Bucklands Farm, he is a quality attractive individual with a top-class race record and comes from the speedy Indian Ridge sire line. He is the natural successor to Compton Place and offers a great option to breeders who previously supported his sire and had success with him.”

There will also be a bonus offered to breeders, with £5,000 awarded to the breeder of his first 2-year-old winner, £10,000 for Pearl Secret's first listed winner and a sum of £15,000 given for his first group winner.
