Old Friends will host a live auction of fine art and racing memorabilia Sept. 10 at 3p.m., one hour prior to the Fasig-Tipton Turf Showcase, with all proceeds going to benefit Old Friends and its residents. Ten items will be offered, including an exclusive Old Friends “Win and You're In” opportunity.
The winning bidder on this auction highlight will earn entry for the Thoroughbred of their choice to have a lifelong retirement at Old Friends, a prize valued at $30,000 to $50,000. To be eligible, the horse must be a registered Thoroughbred and have either a racing or breeding record.
“The demand for placement at Old Friends is huge, we have a lengthy waiting list, so we felt this was among the most valuable assets we have to offer,” said Old Friends President Michael Blowen. “Of all the great items on the block, we're hoping this will be the hip number to watch.”
Other select items to be offered include a Derby Experience with Hall of Fame Jockey Chris McCarron, a cherry red 1985 historic Chevrolet Silverado Pick-up; The American Pharoah Halter Collection, and a one- day “Ultimate Horse-Farm Tour” for eight guests, which includes visits with Beholder, Rachel Alexandra, Zenyatta, and more.
All items in the Old Friends auction will be available for preview on Saturday September 9th from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Kentucky Room of the Fasig-Tipton pavilion. Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres will be served.
