Observations on the European Racing Scene turns the spotlight on the best European races of the day, highlighting well-pedigreed horses early in their careers, horses of note returning to action and young runners that achieved notable results in the sales ring. Tuesday's Insights features a half-sister to Shamardal (Giant's Causeway).

2.00 Yarmouth, Cond, £7,000, 2yo, f, 8f 3yT
HAMEEM (GB) (Teofilo {Ire}) debuts for Hissa Hamdan Al Maktoum and John Gosden and cost Shadwell €500,000 at last year's Arqana August Sale. The half-sister to four black-type performers headed by the MGSW Tres Blue (Ire) (Anabaa Blue {GB}) meets another with strong connections in Michael Tabor, Derrick Smith and Susan Magnier's Hourglass (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), a Marco Botti-trained half-sister to Shamardal and the G2 Beresford S. scorer Geoffrey Chaucer (Montjeu {Ire}).

6.45 Kempton, Cond, £5,000, 2yo, 6f (AWT)
ERAAD (IRE) (Dark Angel {Ire}) debuts for Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Charles Hills and is a fascinating newcomer as a 500,000gns TATOCT first foal out of the G3 Abernant S. and G3 Sandown Sprint S. scorer Tickled Pink (Ire) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}). The February-foaled colt is therefore related to Ballydoyle's wellspring of Group 1 success Halfway To Heaven (Ire) (Pivotal {GB}) and her daughters Rhododendron (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) and Magical (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}).
