D’BAI (IRE) (Dubawi {Ire}), a full-brother to the 2011 G1 2000 Guineas and G1 Irish 2000 Guineas runner-up Dubawi Gold (GB), was a debut second over course and distance for the Godolphin-Appleby axis earlier this month and is opposed by seven in this return. Rivals include Outre Mer (Ire) (Raven’s Pass), another of Godolphin’s three nominees, a twice-raced son of 2009 GI Ogden Phipps H. third Sea Chanter (War Chant), representing John Gosden’s local yard; and Clive Washbourn’s hitherto untested Contrapposto (Ire) (Cacique {Ire}), a half-brother to 2012 G1 Grosser Preis von Bayern victress Temida (Ire) (Oratorio {Ire}) out of a half to 2009 GI Charles Whittingham Memorial-winning sire Midships (Mizzen Mast).
