NYRA Releases Aqueduct Stakes Schedule

The 2016 Aqueduct fall stakes schedule, which is comprised of 29 stakes worth $4.85 million, was released Tuesday by the New York Racing Association. The meet, which starts Friday Nov. 4 and runs through Saturday, Dec. 31, gets underway with the running of the GII Nashua S. on opening day and the GIII Tempted S. the following day.

The meet will once again by highlighted by the $500,000 GI Cigar Mile H. Nov. 26, which features a purse jump to $750,000 with the start of a Grade I winner and a jump to $1 million for a Breeders' Cup winner. Other highlights include the GII Remsen S. and GII Demoiselle S. for 2-year-olds and the GIII Comely S. for sophomore fillies.

As per tradition, the GIII Fall Highweight H. will be the Thanksgiving day feature and will be joined by the inaugural running of the $125,000 Gio Ponti S. for 3-year-olds going 1 1/16 miles on the turf. The $125,000 Winter Memories S., which is the Gio Ponti's matching race for fillies, will be held the next day, Friday, Nov. 25.
