In this continuing series, we take a look ahead at US-bred and/or conceived runners entered for the upcoming weekend at the tracks on the Japan Racing Association circuit, with a focus on pedigree and/or performance in the sales ring. Here are the horses of interest for this weekend running Niigata and Tokyo Racecourses, including the second most-expensive yearling from the first crop of Triple Crown winner American Pharoah:

Saturday, October 26, 2019
6th-TOK, ¥13,400,000 ($123k), Newcomers, 2yo, 1600m
DANON PHAROAH (JPN) (c, 2, American Pharoah–Crisp, by El Corredor) is a son of the 2010 GI Santa Anita Oaks winner Crisp, who was purchased by Katsumi Yoshida for $350,000 carrying this foal in utero at the 2016 Keeneland November sale. The May foal was the lone representative for his sire at the 2018 JHRA Select Yearling Sale and his hammer price of ¥180 million (about $1,629,000) was the second priciest of American Pharoah's 67 first-crop yearlings to sell last year. KIMBERLEY PROCESS (c, 2, Declaration of War–Diamante, by Giant's Causeway), a $160,000 Keeneland September yearling purchase, turned in a useful debut over this course and distance Oct. 5 when finishing fifth, beaten about seven lengths. The Godolphin colorbearer is out of an unraced half-sister to highweighted Irish 2-year-old filly and 2008 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf runner-up Heart Shaped; as well as GISW and multiple Classic-placed A P Valentine (A.P. Indy). B-KatieRich Farms (KY)

5th-NII, ¥13,400,000 ($123k), Newcomers, 2yo, 1400mT
ASTER HORN (c, 2, Speightstown–Arania, by Dynaformer), a $360,000 Keeneland September yearling purchase, is a half-brother to Campaign (Curlin), winner of the GIII Cougar II H. and GIII Tokyo City Cup at 12 furlongs on dirt and a latest strong-finishing third in the GIII Kentucky Turf Cup at Kentucky Downs. The colt's SW & GSP second dam Aurora (Danzig) is responsible for GISWs Arch (Roberto), Acoma (Empire Maker) and Antics (Unbridled), whose GISW daughter Covfefe (Into Mischief) is the likely favorite for the GI Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint next weekend. Antics also bred Japanese MGSW & G1SP Albiano (Harlan's Holiday). Aster Horn's third dam is champion Althea (Alydar). B-Alexander-Groves Thoroughbreds (KY)

BLAME DAUGHTER (f, 3, Blame&log=">Blame–Nothing to Wear, by Malibu Moon) is a maternal granddaughter of MGSW turfer Rich In Spirit (Repriced), the dam of MGSW & GISP Wishing Gate (Indian Charlie), whose 'TDN Rising Star' daughter Summering (War Front) won last year's Juvenile Fillies Turf at Del Mar before finishing well down the field in the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. A $90,000 KEESEP yearling and $25,000 FTKNOV yearling, Blame Daughter fetched $100,000 at this year's OBS March Sale in Central Florida (:10 2/5). B-Indian Creek & Nicky Drion (KY)
