In this continuing series, we take a look ahead at US-bred and/or conceived runners entered for the upcoming weekend at the tracks on the Japan Racing Association circuit, with a focus on pedigree and/or performance in the sales ring. Here are the horses of interest for this Saturday running at Chukyo Racecourses. Sunday's action features the return to the races of Contrail (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn}), who preps for the final leg of the Japanese Triple Crown in the G2 Kobe Shimbun Hai:

4th-CKO, ¥13,400,000 ($127k), Newcomers, 2yo, 1400m
OLYMPIC DAY (c, 2, Medagliad'Oro–Flagstaff {GB}, by Dansili {GB}) was bought back on a bid of $400K out of last year's Keeneland September sale, then was hammered down to Katsumi Yoshida for $420K after breezing an eighth of a mile in :10 1/5 at this year's OBS March Sale. The February foal is the first produce for his dam, a daughter of French G1SW and U.S. MGSW/GISP Etoile Montante (Miswaki), whose MGSW daughter Starformer (Dynaformer) is responsible for recent Tourist Mile hero Flavius (War Front). This is also the female family of this year's GII Fair Grounds Oaks winner and GI Alabama S. runner-up Bonny South (Munnings). B-Fred W Hertrich III (KY)

12th-CKO, ¥21,000,000 ($199k), Allowance, 3yo/up, 1800m
SEREIN (f, 3, Uncle Mo–Tiz Miz Sue, by Tiznow) was victorious in two of her first four trips to the post, including an allowance victory at Nakayama in January (see below, gate 6), before finishing third in the G3 UAE Oaks at Meydan the following month. The $500K KEESEP grad returned from an unplaced effort in listed company in June to finish a good third in a Niigata allowance Sept. 5. Serein's Grade I-winning dam is also responsible for the 4-year-old colt Tatweej (Tapit), a $2.5m KEESEP purchase, who carries a two-race winning streak into a one-mile Gulfstream allowance Friday afternoon. Tiz Miz Sue's half-brother Bulletin (City Zip) won the 2018 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint. B-CresRan LLC (KY)
