Deauville's Prix La Reboursiere was the platform for G1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches heroine Mangoustine (Dark Angel) in 2021 and this year's edition may have unearthed another candidate for the Classic trail after Christophe Ferland trainee Allela (Night Of Thunder) scooted to an impressive four-length success and 'TDN Rising Star presented by Hagyard' status in the one-mile maiden for unraced fillies.
“We have always had a high opinion of her and she has shown plenty of quality in her work at home,” the winning trainer said. “We'll definitely see her again this season and I think she has the ability to take a big step forward. I hope she has a bright future and that she is able to show her quality in better races.”
The 17-10 favourite broke from the outside stall and settled off the tempo in a midfield eighth through halfway in this debut. Making eyecatching headway out wide in the home straight, she seized control with 300 metres remaining and powered away from toiling rivals in the latter stages to register a clear-cut victory from Rose Mangue (Hello Youmzain).
Allela, who becomes the eighth Rising Star for her sire, is the third of four foals and second scorer produced by G1 Prix Jean Romanet third Romanciere (Dansili), who is a full-sister to Listed Prix Charles Laffitte victrix Bilissie, herself the dam of dual Group-winning G1 Prix du Jockey Club runner-up First Look (Lope De Vega).
Romanciere, a daughter of G2 Prix de Royallieu winner Balladeuse (Singspiel), is also kin to G1 Prix Vermeille heroines Aventure (Sea The Stars) and Left Hand (Dubawi), with the latter being the dam of three black-type performers headed by the dual stakes-winning G3 Prix de Psyche riunner-up Left Sea (Frankel), who attained Rising Star status in the 2022 renewal of this contest.
Allela is a half-sister to this term's Listed Listed Grand Prix de Compiegne and Listed Prix du Pays d'Auge victor Phineas (Lope De Vega) and a weanling filly by Zarak.
