New TDN Rising Star: Ghostzapper Filly Romps in Keeneland Slop

Guarana | Coady

Guarana (f, 3, Ghostzapper-Magical World, by Distorted Humor) wasn't much of a secret at odds of 4-5, and ran to the money with a powerful, front-running debut win in the Keeneland slop Friday, easily good enough for 'TDN Rising Star' honors.

She broke well and faced some early pressure through a sharp opening quarter in :22.09. Jose Ortiz let her out a notch around the far turn and she began to shake clear as they straightened for home. The bay really took off from there, splashing under the line a jaw-dropping, 14 3/4-length winner. Private Message (Maclean's Music) was second.

The Three Chimneys Farm homebred was produced by a winning daughter of GI Breeders' Cup Distaff heroine Pleasant Home (Seeking the Gold). The winner's dam Magical World had a filly by More Than Ready in 2017 and a colt by Pioneerof the Nile in 2018. She was barren for 2019.

This is also the female family of GISWs Point of Entry (Dynaformer), Pine Island (Arch), Sky Beauty (Blushing Groom {Fr}), et al. Her fourth dam is bluehen mare Maplejinksy (Nijinsky II).
