Muhaarar's Trevaunance Wins The Nonette

Returning to the scene of her success in the G3 Prix de Psyche Aug. 2, Moyglare Stud's Trevaunance (Ire) (Muhaarar {GB}) reaffirmed her love of Deauville by making all in Saturday's G2 Prix de la Nonette over the same 10-furlong trip.

Allowed to bowl along unperturbed under Tony Piccone, the 18-1 shot had lift-off turning into the straight and her finale proved too much for her more-vaunted rivals as she powered to a two-length verdict over Mqse De Sevigne (Ire) (Siyouni {Fr}). Extending what had been a short-neck margin to that rival in the Psyche, the Jessica Harrington-trained homebred had another 3/4-of-a-length gap to Agave (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) in third.

“Tony did a great job on her–I told him to quicken up turning for home and make plenty of use of her, as next year I see her ending up a mile-and-a-half filly,” Harrington said. “She's a big, long-striding filly who lengthens and probably doesn't do anything quickly. She could come for the Prix Vermeille, but may go back to Ireland for the [G2] Blandford S.”

Trevaunance, who was fourth in The Curragh's G3 Weld Park S. in September, had run fifth under hold-up tactics in a slowly run G3 Meld S. at Leopardstown July 14 prior to her first foray to Deauville after which connections reflected on prior tactics  and the fact she is more effective travelling right-handed.

Her dam is Ballymacoll Stud's G3 Musidora S. winner Liber Nauticus (Ire) (Azamour {Ire}), who has produced the Listed Queen Charlotte S. scorer Miss Celestial (Ire) (Exceed And Excel {Aus}). The family includes the multiple Group 1-winning sire Conduit (Ire) (Dalakhani {Ire}) and the luminaries Spectrum (Ire) and Petrushka (Ire) (Unfuwain). Next up from the dam is the unraced 2-year-old colt Portreath (Ire) (Kodiac {GB}), a yearling colt by Blue Point (Ire) and a filly foal by Sea The Stars (Ire).
