+SKY KINGDOM (IRE) (c, 3, Montjeu {Ire}–We Can Say It Now {Aus} {MG1SW-NZ, $229,619}, by Starcraft {NZ}), who is out of the MG1SW We Can Say It Now (Aus) (Starcraft {NZ}), was sent off as the 3-1 favourite for this Wood Ditton S., and duly obliged in a storied race which has thrown up the likes of Mukhadram (GB) (Shamardal) and Harbinger (GB) (Dansili {GB}) in recent years. Stalking the lead in second after the initial strides, he was nudged along to challenge approaching the quarter-mile marker and ridden out on the climb to the line to comfortably hold the late thrust of Mulk (GB) (New Approach {Ire}) by 3/4 of a length. Sky Kingdom is a sibling of an unnamed 2-year-old filly by Galileo (Ire), and a yearling colt by Mastercraftsman (Ire). “That was not a bad start and I guess, having won, we'll step him up in trip and come back here at the Guineas meeting for the listed race,” revealed trainer William Haggas of the G1 Epsom Derby entry. “He has beaten a lot of unraced horses so we don't know how good the form is, but he has been working nicely and he did it well enough. As with all trainers at this time of year, we will take it one step at a time and will aim him at the isted race [May 2 Newmarket S.], and see if he improves over that [10-furlong] trip. He is a nice-looking horse.” Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $9,234. Video, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
