Marcel's dam withdrawn from Goffs' February Sale

Marcel | Racing Post

Mauresmo (Ire) (Marju {Ire}), the dam of last season's G1 Racing Post Trophy winner Marcel (Ire) (Lawman {Fr}), has been withdrawn from the Goffs February Sale on veterinary grounds.

The 12-year-old had been scheduled to sell as lot 496 on Thursday, February 11 but has been showing signs that she is about to deliver Marcel's full-sibling. Mauresmo was covered by Lawman on March 30.

Goffs' Director of Sales Nick Nugent has been appointed to act on behalf of vendor Oghill House Stud to conduct a private sale for the mare.

Marcel, who was bred by Oghill House's David Hyland, ran three times for Peter Chapple-Hyam and owner Paul Hancock in 2015, winning twice when leaping straight from a Newbury maiden victory to his Group 1 triumph at Doncaster. He is currently quoted at odds of around 25/1 for the G1 Investec Derby in June.

A total of 538 broodmares, yearlings and horses in training, both Flat and National Hunt, have been catalogued to sell over two days at Goffs, starting on February 10. Two supplementary lots have also been announced: lot 74A, a yearling colt by leading National Hunt sire Flemensfirth (Ire) and lot 309A, The Mouse Doctor (Ire), a 3-year-old son of Lord Shanakill.
