Sultry rallied strongly along the rail to upset 1-5 'TDN Rising Star' Mia Mischief (Into Mischief) and capture the Spendthrift Juvenile Fillies S. at Churchill Downs. Sixth at this oval on debut June 19, the $400,000 Keeneland September buy came from last to graduate going away Aug. 12 at Ellis and, after running sixth in the GII Pocahontas S. here Sept. 16, annexed an allowance last out Oct. 12 at Keeneland. Dropping out near the back of the field as the second choice in this spot restricted to progeny of Spendthrift Farm stallions, the dark bay started to make headway while hugging the rail at the three-eighths pole after Mia Mischief put away her pace pursuers through a :45.65 half. Quickly emerging as the lone challenger to the favorite as heads pointed for home, Sultry closed relentlessly to take the lead at the sixteenth pole and edge away late to post the upset. The winner is the first foal out of a dam who produced colts by Candy Ride (Arg) in the last two seasons before returning to Malibu Moon this term.
