Consistent at three without hitting the heights, Maimara captured the Listed Prix de Bagatelle over a mile at Maisons-Laffitte in July and the G3 Prix de Lieurey also over that trip at Deauville in August after finishing eighth in the G1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches at Longchamp in May and runner-up in the nine-furlong G3 Prix Chloe at Chantilly in June. Fourth in the G1 Prix du Moulin back at Longchamp in September, the bay was reappearing after a season finale seventh in the G1 Sun Chariot S. at Newmarket in October. Exuberant early tracking the pace-setters, she moved easily to the lead with 300 meters left and quickly asserted for a convincing win. “My trainer said she was a little bit tired at the end of last year and she had spent a good winter and got much stronger,” commented owner Alain Louis-Dreyfus. “She certainly likes it when the ground is soft and won in good style, so I imagine we'll bring her back here for the [May 1] G1 Prix du Muguet next.” Click for the Racing Post result or the free Equineline.com catalogue-style pedigree.
