Juddmonte's Kalpana (Study Of Man)is one of 15 confirmations for the G1 Legends Global Yorkshire Oaks on August 20 at the latest entry stage on Friday.
Fresh off winning a thrilling G1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot, the Study Of Man mare faces off against a seven-strong battalion of Coolmore runners anchored by multiple Group 1 winner Minnie Hauk (Frankel), who won this race in 2025. The 2025 Arc runner-up is joined by Aidan O'Brien stablemates Amelia Earhart (Camelot), a winner of the Listed Cheshire Oaks, G3 Staffordstown Stud Stakes heroine Sugar Island (Dubawi), the Wootton Bassett winners Beautify and Composing, Justify's Moments Of Joy, and multiple Group 1 winner Diamond Necklace (St Mark's Basilica). The last-named filly is reportedly headed to France for her next engagement, however.
Aidan's son Joseph sends out G1 Irish Oaks winner Johanna Walsh (Sea The Stars), while David Menuisier's Irish Oaks second Inis Mor (Galiway) is signed on. Fillies entering on the back of group wins are Tattycoram (Camelot) for Ralph Beckett and Moody (Night Of Thunder) for Paddy Twomey.
Also running for Juddmonte and hailing from the yard of John and Thady Gosden is G3 Musidora Stakes victress and G1 Oaks second Legacy Link (Dubawi). She was unplaced behind Wathnan Racing's Earth Shot (Time Test) in the G2 Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Irish Oaks third Sparan Nua (Dawn Approach) is back for another try. She won the G3 Munster Oaks in June for Jim Bolger and was fourth in the G3 Desmond Stakes earlier this month.
“We love tough races. I wouldn't fancy going over for a walkover,” said Bolger. “It went fine back over a mile last time. She was running on at the finish and we were happy with her.
“Had she been able to win it would have given me options at the end of the season as there are more Group 1s at the end of the season than distance races. That was the thinking behind that – to increase the options.
“Also there is a likelihood she will stay in training so I wanted to know maybe if we had enough toe for a mile we would have loads of options next year. There is a possibility she could come in season and if that happens we won't be declaring.”
In the G2 Sky Bet Lowther Stakes, 23 fillies have stood their ground for the six-furlong contest earlier on the York card. George Boughey's G3 Albany Stakes heroine Libertango (No Nay Never) is one to watch. She ran second in the G2 Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes last out in Newmarket.
Other fillies of interest include Paddy Twomey's listed scorer Big Negotiator (Havana Grey), the Ger Lyons-trained Ballyhane Stakes heroine Livenka (Bated Breath), Andrew Balding's G3 Princess Margaret Stakes victress Moonrise (Churchill), and Karl Burke's Wild Blossom (Mehmas). As expected, Joseph O'Brien supplemented the 'TDN Rising Star, presented by Hagyard' Star Of State (State Of Rest).
