JUTLAND (c, 2, Raging Bull {Fr}–Naval Battle, by War Front), one of just a few first-time starters in the field, became the first winner for his freshman sire (by Dark Angel {Ire}) Thursday. Showing his inexperience and away last of the eight, the 9-5 favorite trailed through the opening quarter in :23.42 before beginning to pick up the pack with a wide move on the run into the far turn. Still with pacesetter Don Ique (Astern {Aus}) to catch, Jutland charged into the final furlong, stuck a head in front midway home and cleared off nicely to graduate by two lengths over fellow firster Casa Cielo (Caravaggio). Purchased in utero for $100,000 at KEENOV in 2022, Jutland is the first foal out of the War Front mare Naval Battle. Third dam Absolutelyfabulous (Ire) is notable for producing G1 Irish Two Thousand Guineas victor Magician (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) along with GISP Oustanding (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), herself the dam of both MGSW Masteroffoxhounds (War Front) and SW/MGSP Totally Justified (Justify). Naval Battle reported a yearling Blame colt last year now named Kurita's Folly. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $19,200. Click for the Equibase.com chart.
