Jockey Rocco Bowen Gets Win 1,000 at Indiana Grand

Eric Halstrom celebrates Rocco Bowen's 1,000th win | Coady

Barbados native Rocco Bowen reached the 1,000th win of his riding career Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Indiana Grand Racing & Casino. He had stalled, going zero for 23, since getting his 999th win Nov. 4. It was a pick-up mount for trainer Tim Glyshaw in Wednesday's ninth race that netted the milestone win. Dox Folly (Paddy O'Prado) won the Indiana-bred starter allowance by 5 1/2 lengths.

“I even changed my boots today,” said Bowen. “This sign is going straight to my mom. Thank you to everyone. It's been such a pleasure to be here and everyone has been so welcoming. I want to thank all the agents throughout my career and all the people that have been in my corner. This is for everyone that has been supportive.”

Bowen had been sidelined by an injury sustained while riding from September, 2018, to this spring. This is his first year riding in Indiana and he ranks among the top 10 jockeys there. He has accumulated more than $11 million in purses throughout his career since 2007.

Eric Halstrom, Indiana Grand's vice president and general manager of racing, made the winner's circle presentation.
