Jockey Club Scholarship Recipients Announced

Julianna Witt and Scott Little have been named the recipients of The Jockey Club Scholarship and The Jockey Club Jack Goodman Scholarship, respectively, it was announced Friday. The Jockey Club scholarship awards $15,000 ($7,500 per semester) to any student pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher at any university and has expressed an interest in a career within the Thoroughbred racing industry. The Jack Goodman Scholarship offers a total of $6,000 ($3,000 per semester) to a student enrolled in the University of Arizona's Race Track Industry Program. It is based on academic achievement, a future in the Thoroughbred industry and previous industry involvement. Jack Goodman, a Tucson resident, is a longtime member of The Jockey Club and one of three founders of the RTIP.

Witt, from Freehold, New Jersey, is currently double majoring in equine science/management and animal science at the University of Kentucky and plans on graduating with a B.S. and a minor in agricultural economics in 2019. In addition to working in sales prep and as a mare and foal groom for a variety of farms, Witt also volunteers at Old Friends and is considering the Godolphin Flying Start program, the Irish National Stud or a masters in equine reproduction.

A native of Abilene, Texas, Little is on the Dean's list at U of A and has expressed an interest in working in track management to help increase customer service and promote fan development. He has experience working in a racing office and as a track ambassador through guest services.
