Last year's G1 Irish Derby winner Jack Hobbs (GB) (Halling) will make his seasonal debut in the G2 Jockey Club S. at Newmarket on 2000 Guineas Day Apr. 30, according to Godolphin Chief Executive and Racing Manager John Ferguson. The 4-year-old will use that 12-furlong event as a stepping stone to the G1 Coronation Cup on Derby Day at Epsom June 4.
“I spoke to [trainer] John [Gosden], who also said he wanted to have Jack Hobbs running in Dubai this time next year, in the [G1 Dubai Sheema Classic on Dubai World Cup day],” said Ferguson.
Jack Hobbs finished second to former stablemate Golden Horn (GB) (Halling) in last year's G2 Dante S. and G1 Investec Derby, and also took the G3 September S. following a summer break after his Irish Derby win. He was third last out in the G1 Qipco Champion S. Oct. 17.
