$750,000 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga yearling LAST STAGE (Tapit) gets his career underway here for Godolphin and trainer Kiaran McLaughlin. The bay's dam Carriage Trade (Storm Cat) is a half-sister to GII Fountain of Youth S. winner and sire Lil's Lad (Pine Bluff). Last Stage has been working at Palm Meadows since late December and finalized his preparations with a four-furlong breeze there Feb. 17. WinStar Farm homebred Copper Town (Speightstown), owned in partnership with China Horse Club and SF Racing, also makes his debut in this spot. The sophomore's dam is SW Dynazaper (Ghostzapper) and his second dam is Broad Dynamite (Broad Brush), who hit the board in all six of her career starts, including a victory in the 1996 GII Astarita S. This is also the extended family of GI Breeders' Cup Sprint winner Very Subtle (Hoist the Silver). The aforementioned pair will be joined in the starting gate by Blue Buff (Unbridled's Song), a $400,000 Keeneland September yearling who has posted a trio of bullet workouts at Palm Meadows in recent weeks for conditioner Joe Orseno.
