True Blue Moon bested Dali (Scat Daddy) by a half length in his Apr. 12 debut going five panels at Dundalk, but was usurped for favouritism by that re-opposing rival and was let go at a generous 8-1 for this black-type debut. Steadied to race in a handy fourth after an alert getaway, the grey was shaken up when shuffled back one spot at the quarter-mile marker and quickened smartly under continued urging inside the final furlong to assert for a career high “He won nicely first time out and we intended going for a winners' race afterwards, but he had a little setback and we ended up coming straight here,” explained trainer Joseph O'Brien. “They went a good gallop, he's won nicely and I'm delighted with him. We'll have to go down the Royal Ascot road, but I don't yet know which race we'll go for. He could stick to five furlongs, but we'll decide closer to the time.”

True Blue Moon is the seventh winner, and first stakes scorer, from eight runners for Fancy Intense (GB) (Peintre Celebre), whose dam Joyeuse Entree (GB) (Kendor {Fr}) landed the G3 Prix d'Aumale as a juvenile. Joyeuse Entree is also the dam of the G1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains-winning sire and G1 Prix Morny and G1 Grand Criterium runner-up Tin Horse (Ire) (Sakhee), and Listed Criterium de l'Ouest victrix Becomes You (GB) (Lomitas {GB}), who also ran third in the G3 Prix de Conde. Joyeuse Entree is a granddaughter of Eglantine (Fr) (Lightning {Fr}), whose other descendants are headed by G3 Prix de Flore heroine Miss Salvador (Fr) (Smadoun {Fr}). Fancy Intense has also produced an as yet unnamed yearling filly by Canford Cliffs (Ire).
