Hit It a Bomb (War Front) will not shuttle to Australia for the 2017 breeding season as previously expected, and the smashing winner of the 2015 GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf will instead head to South America, Spendthrift Farm announced Thursday. “We did not anticipate such strong late interest in shuttling Hit It a Bomb, and an unforeseen opportunity came about that was too good to turn down,” said Spendthrift principal B. Wayne Hughes. “It was a difficult business decision to send him to South America, and we regret any confusion this may cause.”

Hughes added, “I want to make it clear that we will continue to be committed to bolstering our stallion operation at Spendthrift Australia. The first key to having mutual success for Spendthrift, the stallion, and the breeder is to make sure we are doing our job by having the right horses in the right places. I believe we will have a lot of the right horses coming to Spendthrift Australia in the future.”

Spendthrift Australia's 2017 roster will include GSW/G1SP Swear (Aus) (Redoute's Choice {Aus}), an A$725,000 Inglis Easter yearling who will stand his first season at stud as a participant in Spendthrift's popular “Share the Upside” program. Other members of the Spendthrift roster are Warrior's Reward (Medaglia d'Oro), Jimmy Creed (Distorted Humor) and Hampton Court (Aus) (Redoute's Choice {Aus}).
