Sent off the 9-10 favorite to follow up on a smart first Hong Kong success over this course and distance Dec. 14, Isaac (Aus) (Hinchinbrook {Aus}) was bustled along to attend the early pace from between rivals. Shaken up at the head of the lane by Zac Purton, the A$40,000 Inglis Classic Yearling purchase showed a decisive turn of speed to put the race to bed, scoring by an emphatic 2 1/4 lengths carrying 132 pounds in a Class 4 handicap over 1200m Wednesday. “He looks like he has a future,” said winning trainer John Moore. “He's quickened, and the way he's done that has shown us that he really is better than this grade, which is what Zac said after he galloped him the other day. He said to me, 'this one's better than Class 4' and it looks like he's right.” The conditioner added, “That was a bit of a surprise, from my point of view. When he came to us he was very light but he's developed nicely–physically, he's really improved. Hinchinbrook is one of the up-and-coming sires on the Australian scene and this horse has proven tonight that he's still well-placed, even going up to Class 3 next time.” VIDEO
