Golden Horn Off the Mark At Haydock

West End Girl | Racing Post

Dalham Hall Stud's G1 Epsom Derby and G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe hero Golden Horn (GB) was off the mark as a sire on Friday evening when his daughter West End Girl (GB) took Haydock's Longines Irish Champions Weekend EBF Fillies' Novice S. Sent off at 17-2, the bay had one behind early but stayed on to gain the lead a furlong from home and score by 1 1/4 lengths from Fraternity (Ire) (Zoffany {Ire}). The dam is a half-sister to the G1 Middle Park S., G1 Prix Morny and G2 Norfolk S. winner Reckless Abandon (GB) (Exchange Rate) and the stakes-winning and group-placed Japanese runner Best Approach (GB) (New Approach {Ire}). From the family of the G1 Racing Post Trophy winner Crowded House (GB) (Rainbow Quest), the GI American Oaks Invitational and GI Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup heroine Ticker Tape (GB) (Royal Applause {GB}) and G1 Prix Maurice de Gheest scorer Brando (GB) (Pivotal {GB}), she also has a yearling filly by Lope de Vega (Ire).
