The Goffs UK Doncaster January Sale, which was scheduled to take place on Thursday, January 29, has been cancelled. The event will instead be merged with the British NH Breeders Showcase, with an enlarged sale to be held on a new date of Thursday, December 3.
Goffs UK managing director Tim Kent said, “The January Sale was the UK's only dedicated NH foal sale up to 2022 when, following feedback from UK breeders, we introduced a second sale in 2023, the British NH Breeders Showcase, to allow clients an earlier outlet to sell their NH foals before Christmas. The British NH Breeders Showcase was a huge success in its first year and has quickly become our headline sale for NH foals.
“The success of the Showcase means it has captured a significant number of foals which would have been offered at the January Sale in the past and, together with the reduction in the UK NH foal crop, the number of UK foals remaining that require a dedicated outlet is too small to conduct a successful second sale in January. Therefore, we have decided to end the January Sale and move the British NH Breeders Showcase to an early December date.”
He added, “All breeders who had foal entries in the now-cancelled January Sale have been offered a place in the Goffs February Sale on February 11-12 and everyone with horses-in-training and breeding stock entries have been offered a place in the GoffsGo Online January Sale on January 30, so we have continued to provide an outlet for everyone who was targeting the January Sale with their stock.”
