Godolphin continued their spending spree at this year's Arqana August Yearling Sale when making a splash with their second purchase of Monday's concluding session, a Night Of Thunder colt from La Motteraye Consignment bought for €2 million.
Anthony Stroud said of lot 194, “We all – Charlie [Appleby], David [Loder] and I – really liked him. Again, he is a very, very nice representation of Night Of Thunder and out of a fast Havana Grey mare. He has a very good profile and, needless to say, was very active. We've had some very good Night Of Thunders and he looks the part.”
This colt, the first foal out of the G3 Dick Poole Fillies' Stakes third Tagline (Havana Grey), was preceded among the Godolphin recruits on Monday by lot 170, a Lope De Vega filly from the Haras du Cadran draft who commanded a fee of €500,000.
All told, Godolphin have now bought eight yearlings for a total of €12,450,000 at the sale, including the top four lots, as things stand, headlined by the Wootton Bassett colt who sold for €2.4 million on Sunday.
