Frankel Colt Fetches 600,000gns at Tattersalls

A Frankel (GB) colt who is the first foal out of the Group 1 and Classic winner Simple Verse (Ire) (Duke of Marmalade {Ire}) will return to the Tweenhills pastures on which he was reared after Sheikh Fahad bought out his partners to take him home at 600,000gns on Friday.

John Gunther conducted the bidding, and Redvers explained, “John was acting for myself and Sheikh Fahad, who was buying out his partners. I could not bid on the foal for Sheikh Fahad as Tweenhills was selling him.

“Sheikh Fahad, his brother Sheikh Suhaim and associate Mohammed Al Kubaisi owned the mare as a racehorse in partnership and initially the other two wanted to sell after she finished racing. Sheikh Fahad persuaded them to stay involved, but with the agreement to sell all of her progeny as foals. The Sheikh did see this colt in the summer, but only got here this evening when he saw him again and then finalised his decision to buy his partners out. You will next see this horse in Qatar Racing's silks.”
