Flying High: Malibu Moon Filly Earns 'TDN Rising Star' Status

Fly So High | Adam Coglianese

Fly So High (Malibu Moon), one of two rare purchases by the historic Phipps Stable bringing $675,000 at the 2016 KEESEP Sale, turned some heads going a one-turn mile at second asking at the Big A Thursday, earning 'TDN Rising Star' status.

Adding first-time Lasix here, the 3-1 favorite was ridden along from her rail draw to lead through fractions of :23.33 and :47.14. She began to slip away entering the far turn and leveled off nicely down the stretch to score by 7 3/4 promising lengths. South of the Shore (Union Rags) was second.

Fly So High got going late to finish third in her six-furlong Belmont debut Oct. 8.

Fly So High's dam Quiet Flight (Quiet American), winless in four career starts for owner/breeder Edward P. Evans, brought $600,000 from Mt. Brilliant at the 2011 KEENOV sale. She is also represented by a Malibu Moon filly of 2016.

This is also the same female family of Horse of the Year Saint Liam (Saint Ballado) and recent GI Breeders' Cup Classic hero Gun Runner (Candy Ride {Arg}).
