New recruits Lucky Vega (Ire) (Lope de Vega {Ire}) and Nando Parrado (GB) (Kodiac {GB}) have had their first mares scanned in foal, the Irish National Stud announced on Wednesday.

In foal to G1 Keeneland Phoenix S. hero Lucky Vega is Solar Event (GB) (Galileo {Ire}), a daughter of Group 3 winner Time Away (Ire) (Darshaan {GB}) from the families of Group 1 winners Digital Age (Ire) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}) and Cursory Glance (Distorted Humor). The Iffraaj (GB) mare Cafetiere (GB), already the dam of G2 Norfolk S. third Imperial Force (Ire) (Camacho {GB}), is in foal to Nando Parrado, who won the G2 Coventry S. and placed in a pair of Group 1s. The former stands for €15,000. Nando Parrado is priced at €6,000.

INS CEO Cathal Beale said, “Lucky Vega has been enthusiastically received by Irish breeders and given the quality amongst his first book of mares including Group 1 winner Miss Keller (Ire) (Montjeu {Ire}), Scarlett Rose (GB) (Royal Applause {GB}) and Plying (Hard Spun), is exceptional for a first season sire.

“Nando Parrado, a Royal Ascot-winning and multiple Group 1-placed 2-year old, is by sire of sires Kodiac and is an exceptional physical.”
