In against a field of mixed maidens, IRON DOME (McKinzie) begins his career for trainer Steve Asmussen and owners L and N Racing and Chester Broman, Sr. A $500,000 KEESEP purchase, the New York-bred is a half-brother to MSW & GSP Mr. Buff (Friend Or Foe), who was a fan-favorite on the Big Apple circuits, as well as to SP Quick to Accuse (Accelerate) and SP Organic Gemini (Sir Whimsey). A full-sister to Mr. Buff is the dam of SP Mischief Lady (Honest Mischief). His graded-placed dam Speightful Affair (Speightstown) is a half-sister to placed Whisper Number (First Samurai), dam of GSW & GISP Warrant (Constitution) and GSW Ms Locust Point (Dialed In). This is the extended family of GI Prioress victress Friendly Michelle. Iron Dome debuts with Lasix and a morning line of 10-1 odds.

Eyeballing that one in the gate from his outside is Hymn (McKinzie), a homebred for Fleur de Lis Stables and trained by Ron Moquett. While the dam SP Salt Bae (Paynter) is the most recent in the first two generations to garner black-type, this is the immediate family of two-time Japanese champion Hishi Akebono (Woodman) and multiple Group 1 winner Agnes World (Danzig), who went on to acclaim as a sire in Japan. Summer Vibes (Good Magic), a $600,000 KEESEP purchase by Flying Dutchman Breeding and Racing, goes to post here for trainer Brendan Walsh. A half-brother to MGISW She Feels Pretty (Karakontie {Jpn}), he's out of a winning daughter of French Listed victress Summer Solstice (Ire) (Caerleon). His dam's half-siblings include SW Summer Breezing (Langfuhr), SW & GSP Adirondack Summer (Thunder Gulch), and GISP Summer Solo (Arch), herself the dam of MGSW Solo Album (Curlin) and GSP Maedean (Tapit). This is the immediate female family of multiple Group 1 winner Act One (GB) (In the Wings {GB}) and Group 1-placed Summer Symphony (Ire).

To his inside is Crudo (Justify), a $350,000 weanling at KEENOV in 2022 and who later RNA'd at FTSAUG for $520,000 as a yearling. Now racing for the partnership of Bobby Flay and James Ventura, the son of Justify is a half-brother to GI Spinaway Stakes victress Sippican Harbor (Orb) as well as GSP Bodacious Babe (Mineshaft), dam of GSP Royal Spa (Violence), and is a full-brother to a Japanese Listed-winning filly named Awesome Result. Breaking from the far outside, Cassiar (City of Light) goes to post carrying the colors of William Farish, who purchased the filly for $400,000 as a yearling from FTSAUG and sent her to Shug McGaughey. A half-sister to Group 1-placed Bendoog (Gun Runner), their dam is the GIII Virginia Oaks victress Nellie Cashman (Mineshaft). This is the extended female family of Australian Group 1-placed Foxborough (Aus) (Dissident {Aus}). TJCIS PPs

In a field heavy with princely pedigrees, McCorvey (Curlin) leads the pack as the $1-million KEESEP acquisition out of two-time champion, MGISW Songbird (Medaglia d'Oro). The heralded dam is a half-sister to the mare who produced GSW Mico Margarita (Run Away and Hide), though she has yet to produce a winner. Her now 2-year-old Curlin filly missed her reserve at the Keeneland September sale last year when bidding stalled at $375,000. McCorvey's most recent work Jan. 31 at Payson Park was a shared bullet four furlong move in :48.40 with Capitol Hill (Into Mischief), an unraced 3-year-old full-brother to GII Wood Memorial winner Resilience, and GISW Nakatomi (Firing Line). McCorvey races for the partnership of Grandview Equine, LNJ Foxwoods, and Whisper Hill Farm and trained by Bill Mott.

To his inside is Weekendsandwhiskey (Justify), an $850,000 KEESEP buy for Robert and Lowana Low who is trained by Todd Pletcher. A half-brother to SW Dreamer's Disease (Laoban), the son of Justify is out of a winning half-sister to MGSW Enterprising (Elusive Quality). Underneath the third dam, GISW Fire the Groom (Blushing Groom {Fr}), European champion sprinter MG1SW-Eng Stravinsky (Nureyev) and GSP-Eng, GISP Moscow Ballet (Ire) (Sadler's Wells) make an appearance.
