Extreme Choice Sister Tops Scone Sale

A Duporth (Aus) half-sister to this year's G1 Blue Diamond S. winner Extreme Choice (Aus) (Not A Single Doubt {Aus}) was the dearest lot sold at Sunday's Inglis Scone Yearling Sale, fetching a new sale-record price of A$115,000 from Inglis as agent for an undisclosed client. Lot 83 is the fifth foal out of Extremely (Aus) (Hussonet), who has produced four winners from four to race and was herself sold for A$735,000 to Yu Long Investments at the Inglis Australian Broodmare and Weanling Sale earlier this month, carrying a full-sibling to Extreme Choice. Both Extremely and her Duporth daughter were consigned by Bell River Thoroughbreds.

Following the theme set by the major Australian yearling sales this year, the Scone sale enjoyed gains across the board. A total of 172 horses sold for A$2,605,250, up from the 184 that sold for A$2,039,090 last year. The average climbed 36.7% to A$15,147, and the median was up 25% to A$10,000. The buyback rate was up slightly, but still healthy at 12.7%.

Inglis also signed as agent for the sale's top-priced colt, a A$82,000 son of Foxwedge (Aus) (lot 162) who is the first foal out of the winning Pinocchio (Aus) (Encosta de Lago {Aus}), a full-sister to champion 3-year-old Racing To Win (Aus) and a half to G3 Caulfield Guineas Prelude winner Purrealist (Aus) (Tale of the Cat). He was consigned by Tyreel Stud.

Darby Racing was the buyer of the third-highest priced lot of the day, lot 115, for A$75,000. That colt, from Watagan Grange, is by popular young sire I Am Invincible, and is the fourth foal out of Irish Loup (Aus) (Loup Sauvage), who has produced three winners from three to race.
