Effinex (Mineshaft">Mineshaft) will run in the GII Oaklawn Park H. Apr. 16 in Hot Springs, according to trainer Jimmy Jerkens. After that, the Tri-Bone Stables 5-year-old will point to the GII Brooklyn Invitational S. Jun. 11, and the GII Suburban H.–a race he won last year–on Jul. 9.
Effinex most recently finished third as the favorite in the GI Santa Anita H. on March 12. The horse ran that day with a case of the hives, which Jerkens said still puzzles him.
“Still don't know what is causing it,” Jerkens. “The [hives] are still popping up, every so often, but not to the degree it was [in California].”
