David Reid, co-founder of the Preferred Equine sales agency and the Ice Win Stable racing partnership, was inducted into the Harness Racing Hall of Fame during a ceremony in Goshen, New York Sunday.
Reid added Thoroughbred sales to the record-breaking Standardbred consignments of his Preferred Equine in 2013 and, through his Ice Wine Stable partnership, co-owned Royal Ascot group winner No Nay Never (Scat Daddy).
“To be standing here tonight being inducted into the Harness Racing Hall of Fame is something I truly never imagined when I got involved in the sport,” Reid said. “I'm deeply honored, humbled, and grateful.
“I've been very fortunate in my life and in my career. It's given me tremendous opportunities to meet people from all walks of life, experience tremendous diversity, create memorable moments from many countries. Like many of you, my career has been a major part of my life and during that time I continually learned from the sport's great and influential leaders. Like so many in the room tonight, love, luck and loyalty have all played significant roles in my journey.
“This is not an individual honor. That couldn't be further from the truth. So many people share this award; I can't thank them all. Some are gone, but they're never forgotten.”
