Darley America Announces Fees

Medaglia d'Oro (El Prado {Ire}), whose progeny have performed well on racetracks and sales rings around the world, will stand the 2016 breeding season for a fee of $150,000 at Darley's Kentucky base at Jonabell Farm. The stallion will be represented by five runners at this weekend's Breeders' Cup meeting at nearby Keeneland, including TDN Rising Star Songbird, who is the 7-5 morning-line favorite for the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies. Medaglia d'Oro is also the sire of Vancouver (Aus), the champion 2-year-old in Australia who was perfect in his first four trips to the post, including a smashing victory in the G1 Tooheys New Golden Slipper S. in April. It has also been an outstanding season for Medaglia d'Oro as a broodmare sire, as Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra is the dam of a pair of TDN Rising Stars: Rachel's Valentina, a daughter of Darley's Bernardini, who opposes Songbird in Saturday's Juvenile Fillies; and Jess's Dream (Curlin), a spectacular maiden winner at first asking over the summer. Medaglia d'Oro's offspring also starred at public auction, highlighted by a son of MSW & MGSP Kid Kate (Lemon Drop Kid) who sold to Solis/Litt/Winchell/Gainesway for $1.1 million at the Keeneland September sale.

In addition to GI Spinaway S. winner Rachel's Valentina, Bernardini is the sire of GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile contender Greenpointcrusader; Dame Dorothy, victorious in the GI Humana Distaff S. and headed to the GI Filly & Mare Sprint; and GI Test S. victress Cavorting, drawn outside in the Filly & Mare Sprint. Grade II Fioretti completes a Bernardini trio in that seven-furlong heat. The son of A.P. Indy will command a service fee of $100,000.

Darren Fox, Sales Manager at Darley in America said, “It is very rewarding for us to see such tremendous success this year for breeders who have used our stallions. Medaglia d'Oro and Bernardini continue to reach new heights both on the track and in the sales ring, while Hard Spun and Street Sense continue to go from strength to strength. Seeing Animal Kingdom's foals developing like they are is very exciting.

Fox continued, “This year alone, we have seen more than 75 stakes winners from our nine sires with foals three-year-olds and up and consignors have realized well over $50 million at the yearling and 2-year-old sales. In addition, our relationship with Becky Thomas at Sequel has seen Girolamo garner great success with his first crop of New York-bred foals, and we are very excited about what the future holds for our young stallions Alpha and Emcee.”
