Congrats Colt Runs to the Money at Santa Anita

MCKALE (c, 3, Congrats–Lofty Lizzy, by Unbridled's Song) was the 9-5 morning line favorite based off a strong worktab, including a bullet six furlong work in 1:11 1/5 (1/4) locally Feb. 28. Bet down to 3-5, he sprung from the gate and went straight to the early advantage. The dark bay was continuously pressed to his outside by Bobby Axelrod (Tale of the Cat) down the backstretch and into the far turn. It wasn't until the eighth pole that McKale found another gear and slowly pulled away from the rival to score on debut by 2 1/4 lengths, sweeping the early double for Bob Baffert and Drayden Van Dyke. Bobby Axelrod held off Super Sol (Awesome Again) in the final strides for second. The $140,000 Keeneland September purchase hails from the same family as GISW Exbourne (Explodent) and MGSW and MG1SP Top Socialite (Topsider). His unraced dam is a half to MGISW Affirmed Success (Affirmed). Lofty Lizzy is also represented by a juvenile colt and yearling filly by Fed Biz. She visited Paynter last season. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $32,400. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
