Classic Loses One: Prayer For Relief Out With Fever

Zayat Stables' Prayer for Relief (c, 3, Jump Start) will not start in Saturday's $5 million GI Breeders' Cup Classic after reportedly spiking a fever. The Bob Baffert-trained colt was scheduled to board a Tex Sutton flight along with the trainer's other horses Tuesday morning, but Baffert decided to pull the plug on the colt's trip to Louisville. Prayer for Relief rattled off three straight Derby wins this year–of the Iowa, West Virgina and Super varities–before running third as the even-money choice in the Oklahoma Derby at Remington Park Oct. 16. On Monday, Prayer for Relief worked a best-of-56 four furlongs in :46 2/5 at Santa Anita. Baffert is still represented in the Classic by GI Goodwood S. winner Game On Dude (Awesome Again).
