A total of 182 lots have been catalogued for the Tattersalls Ireland Winter Flat and National Hunt Sale, which takes place on Tuesday, January 28. Formerly known as the February National Hunt Sale, the catalogue still consists predominantly of National Hunt yearlings and mares, but for the first time this year Flat-bred stock will also be offered.
Champ Kiely (Ire) (Ocovango {GB}), a Grade 1 winner as a novice hurdler, is a notable graduate of the sale, having fetched €5,800 as a yearling in 2017, while Dan Skelton's recent G2 Rising Stars Novices' Chase winner Boombawn (Ire) (Dylan Thomas {Ire}) was purchased for €13,000 as a yearling the following year.
This year's catalogue features the progeny of leading National Hunt sires such as Walk In The Park (Ire), Blue Bresil (Fr), Jukebox Jury (Ire) and Order Of St George (Ire), while Affinisea (Ire), Poet's Word (Ire) and Crystal Ocean (GB) are also well represented throughout the sale. Potential highlights include lot 58, a Walk In The Park colt out of a half-sister to the nine-time Grade 1 winner Envoi Allen (Fr) (Muhtathir {GB}), and lot 172, a Blue Bresil colt out of a full-sister to the Gold Cup hero Lord Windermere (Ire) (Oscar {Ire}).
