California Chrome (Lucky Pulpit), champion 3-year-old and Horse of the Year in 2014, rebounded from an abbreviated 2015 campaign in a big way last year and was duly named Eclipse champion older male during Saturday's awards ceremony at Gulfstream Park. He received all 248 first-place votes. The popular chestnut, who is currently pointing towards the Jan. 28 GI Pegasus World Cup, won last year's G1 Dubai World Cup, GI Pacific Classic and GI Awesome Again S. His quest for a perfect season came up just short when he was run down in deep stretch by sophomore Arrogate (Unbridled's Song) in the GI Breeders' Cup Classic.
