California Chrome Crowned 2016 Horse of the Year

California Chrome | Benoit

California Chrome (Lucky Pulpit) has won his second Horse of the Year title after a 2016 season which saw him win top-level races from Dubai to California. The popular chestnut went one better on his 2015 runner-up effort when winning the G1 Dubai World Cup in March. He added Grade I tallies in the GI Pacific Classic and GI Awesome Again S. and suffered his only loss of the campaign when second behind Arrogate (Unbridled's Song) in the GI Breeders' Cup Classic. Currently training at Gulfstream Park for his expected career finale in the Jan. 28 $12-million GI Pegasus World Cup, North America's all-time leading money earner will begin his stud career next month at Taylor Made.
