Bless the Broken (Laoban), last seen finishing third behind Saturday's GII Fair Grounds Oaks winner Good Cheer (Medaglia d'Oro) in the GII Rachel Alexandra Stakes at the Fair Grounds Feb. 15, made a successful transition to Turfway Park's Tapeta surface over the same trip. Biding her time under a patient John Velazquez, the 6-1 fourth choice in the field of 11 sat in seventh early behind White Rocks (Frosted)'s even pace set in :24.24, :49.02 and 1:13.69. Advancing while four-wide on the far turn, she swept past White Rocks, Bracelet (Authentic) and Admit (Blame) in the stretch before edging 2 3/4 lengths clear of As Catch Can's (Mo Town) late rally at the finish. Bless the Broken picked up 50 Kentucky Oaks qualifying points for the win raising her total to 67.5 points. Her dam, a half-sister to Princess Of Sylmar (Majestic Warrior), winner of the 2013 GI Kentucky Oaks, was hammered to Bluewater, while in utero to Uncle Mo, for $450,000 at the 2020 Keeneland November Breeding Sale. She has a 2-year-old colt named Bourbon Dream (Quality Road) and she was bred to Jackie's Warrior for this term. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by FanDuel TV.
