'Art of Racing' Competition Open for Preakness 150 Submissions

Art submissions celebrating the historic 150th running of the Preakness at Pimlico are now being accepted for the 'Art Of Racing' contest Horsephotos

Artists are invited to submit their original works celebrating Preakness 150 and Pimlico Race Course for The Art of Racing 2025, 1S/T and the Maryland Jockey Club announced via press release Monday afternoon.

Having attracted more than 500 artists of all ages since its inception four years ago, original, two-dimensional artwork submissions for the 2025 contest were accepted beginning Thursday, Jan. 30 and will run through Friday, Mar. 14 on the Preakness website. Artists of all levels are welcome to showcase their interpretations of Pimlico, the Preakness, or Thoroughbred racing. Art produced by artificial intelligence (AI) will not be accepted for the competition. A full list of rules may be found here.

The contest will run four phases. The first is the submission phase, the second is the public voting period from Mar. 15 to Mar. 28, and the final judging will be conducted Apr. 2. The winner will be announced Tuesday, Apr. 8. The grand prize is includes $4,000, two VIP invitations to Preakness 150, and the selected artwork will be reproduced into merchandise with all proceeds benefitting Park Heights Renaissance.
