Saratoga Maidens, Presented By Keeneland
Looking a picture for the books down the lane, American History (Constitution–Bloody Point, by War Front) broke his maiden at first asking and netted himself a 'TDN Rising Star, presented by Hagyard,' at Saratoga on Saturday.
The third race on the card was a loaded maiden with four entries having sales tickets that topped a million at auction.
The heavy favorite was the 'Insighted' Powerline (Flightline). A $1.8-million Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Select Yearling sale grad, the Steve Asmussen trainee went off at odds of 3-5.
As a 9-1 shot here, American History raced in one of the outside paths as longshots showed the way up the backstretch.
The colt fanned wide around the far turn, which put him in a garden spot turning for home. The 2-year-old flashed more gears, put away the pacesetter and earned his badge with 7 3/4 lengths to spare.
The late running $1.5-million Keeneland September rival Art Museum (Into Mischief) was second. Powerline unfortunately missed the break and finished fourth.

After the race trainer Todd Pletcher told FOX Sports's Richard Migliore, “He [American History] first got away, broke sharply, but he just wasn't as quick as a few of these other colts. Then he started to get a little dirt in his face, Johnny moved him out and into the clear and as soon as he did, he grabbed him and a pretty impressive move from that.
“He's a two-turn horse at the end of the day,” said the Hall of Famer. “It was a great debut and fingers crossed. He's very intelligent, very laid back, Johnny said he was so laid back in the post parade that he kept almost having to wake him up. But you know that bodes well for bigger races down the road, bigger crowds and those kind of things. You know when you have one that's not going to get upset with that, it's a big advantage.”
Bloody Point is responsible for American History's older sister Canadian stakes placed Ada Clare (Quality Road). She produced a filly and a colt by Good Magic starting in 2025, and was bred to Flightline for next term. The winner's dam, out of GISW Mona de Momma (Speightstown), is a half-sister to current sire Vekoma (Candy Ride {Arg}).
American History is the 15th 'TDN Rising Star, presented by Hagyard,' for his sire (by Tapit).
