The group of owners who campaign GI Kentucky Derby winner Always Dreaming have come out in favor of H.R. 2651, the Horseracing Integrity Act of 2017.

“The ownership of Always Dreaming is strongly supporting the passage and implementation of H.R. 2651 and the involvement in oversight of the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA),” co-owner Vinnie Viola told the TDN Tuesday evening. “We feel strongly that this is the right step for the industry to demonstrate a resolve and seriousness around the issues involved and contemplated.”

He continued, “H.R. 2651 provides a phenomenal framework for a fantastic regulatory structure–one that is centralized and promulgated to protect our sport with absolute integrity. The standard pursuit that everyone in the industry agrees on is simple integrity… The jobs of horsemen will be made quite a lot easier with very objective, clear standards. Plus the independence and integrity of USADA is beyond reproach. The accuracy and comprehensive nature of tests overseen by USADA can only bode well for our sport's continued good reputation.”

Always Dreaming, who also annexed this year's GI Xpressbet Florida Derby, is owned by Viola and his wife Teresa, Anthony Bonomo and his wife Maryellen, Terry Finley's West Point Thoroughbreds and Anthony Manganaro's Siena Farm.
