Airdrie Announces 2020 Stud Fees

Preservationist, new to the Airdrie roster for 2020, winning the GI Woodward S. | Sarah Andrew

Brereton C. Jones's Airdrie Stud has announced stud fees for their roster for the 2020 breeding season. New stallion Preservationist, a Grade I-winning millionaire son of Arch, will stand for $10,000 and joins a young roster headlined by Cairo Prince (Pioneerof the Nile) whose fee will remain at $25,000 for a third consecutive year. Cairo Prince's first crop of 3-year-olds includes six Stakes winners, three of which have won at the graded level, putting him at the head of the second-crop sires list by both measures. Leading fourth-crop sire Creative Cause (Giant's Causeway) will stand for $15,000 in 2020.

Last season's incoming freshmen, Collected (City Zip) and McCraken (Ghostzapper), will remain at their initial stud fees of $17,500 and $10,000, respectively. American Freedom (Pulpit), whose first crop of foals will visit the sales ring this fall, will remain at $10,000, as will Upstart (Flatter), whose first

yearlings include 15 individual six-figure sellers topped by a $510,000 Saratoga colt.

First-crop stallion Summer Front (War Front), the sire of Fighting Seabee will also remain at $10,000. Stalwart Include (Broad Brush), sire of the earners of almost $50 million, will remain at $7,500 and Mark Valeski, an emerging son of the late Proud Citizen, will stand for $2,500.

“We take pride in providing value to our supporting breeders and we are confident that that will be the case in 2020 for commercial breeders as well as for end-users,” said Cormac Breathnach, Airdrie's Director of Stallion Nominations. “Each of our last three incoming stallions has led his class by ROI at the weanling sales, averaging 6-8 times the stud fee, and from what we have seen and heard of American Freedom's first crop, he has every chance to continue that streak this fall. Cairo Prince's prolific success from his debut $10,000 crop bodes extremely well for his future with his more expensively-bred crops to come. And we feel that Creative Cause offers excellent value at $15,000 for a young Grade I-producing sire with his bloodlines and versatility.”
