Acclamation's Pretreville Dominates in the Bertrand du Breuil

Gerard Augustin-Normand's Pretreville (Fr) (Acclamation {GB}) led from pillar to post when earning a first black-type score in September's Listed Prix du Pont du Jour at Craon, his final start for the Jean-Claude Rouget stable, and made his first appearance for Pascal Bary in Monday's G3 Prix Bertrand du Breuil Longines at Chantilly. The €100,000 Arqana October yearling faced a solid cast in the day's one-mile feature and repeated his frontrunning tactics to secure a career high in style. Breaking smartly from an outer box to lead under restraint from the outset, the 10-1 chance was shaken up when threatened soon after passing the quarter-mile marker and extended his margin of superiority under urging inside the final furlong to easily account for Plumatic (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) by 3 1/2 lengths, with 8-5 favourite Skalleti (Fr) (Kendargent {Fr}) running on from the rear to finish 1 1/2 lengths back in third.

“It's the first time Pretreville has run under my name, but his previous trainer Jean-Claude Rouget has done a very good job with him,” said Bary of the bay, who won five from six last year. “He hasn't been overraced and, despite being a 5-year-old, is like a brand new horse. He gives a lot in his work in the mornings and also gives a lot in the afternoons so I'm not surprised with the performance. He has gone up in class once again so we will now try him at a higher level in the [G2] Prix du Muguet.”

Pretreville, half-brother to a yearling colt by Dabirsim (Fr), is one of four winners from as many foals to race and the leading performer produced by Pegase Hurry (Fusaichi Pegasus), herself a winning daughter of Big Hurry (Red Ransom), who in turn is a full-sister to G3 Debutante S. third Rapid Ransom. Big Hurry is also a half-sister to a three black-type performers headed by stakes-winning G3 Queen Mary S. third Warrior Queen (Quiet American), who in turn is the dam of MGSW sire A. P. Warrior (A.P. Indy) and granddam of MGSW GII American Turf S. winner Global View (Galileo {Ire}). Warrior Queen is out of a half-sister to the dam of G1SW European champion Pas de Reponse (Danzig) and MG1SW sire Green Tune (Green Dancer), from a family featuring G1SW sire Storm Bird (Northern Dancer).
