The night of Into Mischief continued as a colt out of the Curlin mare Beyond Perfection (hip 154) was the sire's fifth seven-figure hip of the session, bringing an even $3 million from Hunter Rankin, marking the Flying Dutchman's fourth big-splash purchase of the night
Out of a half-sister to GI Kentucky Derby winner Always Dreaming (Bodemeister) and GISW 'TDN Rising Star' Hot Dixie Chick (Dixie Union), the colt is bred on the same cross as recent GII Jim Dandy Stakes winner Renegade (Into Mischief).
Heartwood Farm, who consigned the current $4.2-million Flying Dutchman-purchased sales topper, also consigned this colt on behalf of breeders Santa Rosa Partners.
“This is a full-circle moment,” said Heartwood's Sarah Sutherland. “I think these are clients and mares that are just so special to us. I don't know how to describe it. They're two extremely special animals and I think it was really fascinating the last few days to watch them. They complimented each other and sort of I think even strengthened each other. They were so different, but so nice. And I don't know that anybody could really separate the two. And it was amazing to see them both thrive in that way, separate but together.”
