Kentucky Oaks Survivor Parade

Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI) and its charitable partner The Breast Health Program at Norton Cancer Institute has selected 143 breast and ovarian cancer survivors to walk in the 2017 Longines Kentucky Oaks Survivors Parade Presented by Kroger, it was announced Tuesday. The public can read the survivors' stories and donate to Norton Cancer Institute here.

The ninth annual Survivors Parade will take place on the racetrack prior to the 143rd running of the GI Longines Kentucky Oaks May 5. The parade is part of Churchill's Pink Out, during which the track conducts fundraising, provides outreach and attempts to increase breast and ovarian health awareness. Churchill Downs has donated more than $820,000 to breast cancer organizations through the Pink Out celebration during the past nine years.

“The Survivors Parade has been one of the highlights of the Kentucky Derby weekend for the past nine years,” said Lauren DePaso, director of community relations for CDI. “We are proud to join Norton Cancer Institute Breast Health Program and our fans to celebrate these incredible survivors, help raise critical funds and drive national awareness of the fight against breast and ovarian cancer.”
