Where Did They Come From?

This year's select Irish Oaks lineup is largely dominated by homebreds, but it does feature a trio of sales fillies, including two high-priced Coolmore purchases.

BYE BYE BABY (IRE) (Galileo {Ire}) is the fourth foal out of Remember When (Ire) (Danehill Dancer {Ire}), who is a perfect four-for-four with stakes winners thus far, all by Galileo, including the G2 Kilboy Estate S. winner and G1 Nassau S. second Wedding Vow (Ire). Her marriage to Galileo continues with her 2-year-old colt named T S Eliot (Ire), and a yearling colt. Remember When, second in the G1 Investec Oaks, is a three-quarter sister to Horse of the Year Dylan Thomas (Ire) (Danehill). B-Remember When Syndicate.

FOREVER TOGETHER (IRE) (Galileo {Ire}) was a €900,000 purchase by MV Magnier at Goffs Orby from Ballylinch Stud, who sold her on behalf of breeders Vimal And Gillian Khosla. The Oaks winner is a half-sister to G2 Lennox S. winner and sire Lord Shanakill (Speightstown) and a full-sister to Together Forever (Ire), a listed winner who was second in the G1 Fillies' Mile. MAGIC WAND (IRE) (Galileo {Ire}) is another high-priced auction purchase to line up for Ballydoyle here, having been the top lot at Arqana's August yearling sale of 2016 when bought by MV Magnier, Peter and Ross Doyle and Mayfair Speculators for €1.4-million from Monceaux, and like Forever Together she has justified her pricetag, winning the G2 Ribblesdale S. at Royal Ascot. Magic Wand is a three-quarter sister to the G1 Irish Oaks winner Chicquita (Ire) (Montjeu {Ire}). B-Ecurie Des Monceaux & Skymarc Farm Inc.

MARY TUDOR (IRE) (Dawn Approach {Ire}) is a Godolphin homebred with close connections to two of Sheikh Mohammed's past stars. She is from the first crop of the 2-year-old champion and Guineas winner Dawn Approach, while her second dam is a half-sister to the G1 Dubai World Cup winner Street Cry (Ire) (Machiavellian). B-Darley.

ROMIYNA (IRE) (Nathaniel {Ire}), a homebred for the Aga Khan, is out of the winning Rose Quartz (GB) (Lammtarra), and therefore a half-sister to another Aga Khan luminary in Rajsaman (Fr) (Linamix {Fr}), winner of four group races including the G2 Prix du Muguet and G2 Prix Daniel Wildenstein. Another half-sister has produced the G1 Prix Marcel Boussac winner Rosanara (Fr) (Sinndar {Ire}). B-Haras De Son Altesse L'Aga Khan Scea.

SEA OF CLASS (IRE) (Sea The Stars {Ire}) was a 170,000gns Tattersalls December yearling purchase by McKeever Bloodstock from the Old Buckenham Stud consignment, and she races in the same colours as her illustrious sire. While Irish bred, the form of her family is all Italian; she is a half-sister to four stakes winners, including three G2 Oaks d'Italia winners in Cherry Collect (Ire) (Oratorio {Ire}), Charity Line (Ire) (Manduro {Ger}) and Final Score (Ire) (Dylan Thomas {Ire}). The latter two also took the G1 Premio Lydia Tesio. It is also the family of Group 1 winner and promising young sire Dabirsim (Fr). B-Razza Del Velino Srl.

TISSIAK (IRE) (Fastnet Rock {Aus}) was withdrawn from both Arqana August and Tattersalls October Book 1. She is a half-sister to Scandinavian champion Giuseppe Piazzi (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) and G2 Herbert Power S. winner Adjusted (Ire) (Montjeu {Ire}), and it is also the family of the G1 Prix de l'Opera winner We Are (Ire) (Dansili {GB}).
